Autumn 1

How can we identify and group the animal kingdom?

Sparkling Start!

We had a special visitor from Raptorxotics – The children had a brilliant hands-on experience with a range of animals from the different animal groupings. Dave brought lots of a different animals for us to look at and even hold!  The range of animals included an owl, a bearded dragon, a cockroach, a tarantula and a snake! We even learnt that a scorpion glows under UV light! And we had an owl flying around our classroom!

Science - Categorising animals into groups

The children worked together in groups to sort animals into the correct groups by characteristics.

Short Wood Walk

Barn Owls enjoyed a walk to Short Wood to look for animals from the different animal groupings to apply their learning in Science.
